Circadian rhythm is a natural cycle your body goes through. It repeats about every 24 hours.
Everyone has an internal circadian clock. It controls the timing of when you feel most alert, when you feel most sleepy and when body processes occur.
Circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders happen when your internal clock does not align with your everyday activities. Disorders of this type include:
- Delayed sleep-wake phase disorder
- Advanced sleep-wake phase disorder
- Irregular sleep-wake rhythm disorder
- Non-24-hour sleep-wake rhythm disorder
