If you have an appointment with one of our Breast Risk Assessment and Prevention Program experts, they may:
- Look at your personal and family health history.
- Give you a clinical breast exam.
- Offer education on how to properly check your breasts for changes.
- Offer lifestyle support for risk factors like diet, exercise, and tobacco and alcohol use.
- Provide social work and emotional support services for dealing with the stress of being at high risk for breast cancer.
Personalized Risk Assessment Profile
Our Breast Risk Assessment and Prevention program experts will also create a personalized risk assessment profile with ways to reduce your risk. This may include::
- Advanced or supplemental screening recommendations, such as:
- Referral for genetic counseling and genetic testing to evaluate for inherited cancer risk
- Medications to reduce risk
- Discussion about surgical options, such as a risk-reducing mastectomy
